Equality at Oldfield Brow
At Oldfield Brow, we are committed to embedding the principles of the Equality Act, 2010 into our school through the embedding of the following mantra: "we are all different, but we are all equal" across our school. The principles of equality are an essential part of our school value of "respect".
We feel that, in order to ensure that our learners have the "knowledge and attitudes to thrive" (School Vision, 2023) in modern Britain, they need an understanding of the diversity that underpins our society and is enshrined in UK law. We feel that this is also important when having regard to the British Values of respect and tolerance and individual liberty.
We embed an age-appropriate understanding of the concepts of diversity and discrimination by developing children's understanding of the world we live in though the our PSCHE curriculum and wider school assemblies. An overvirew of the schools's Equality Information and Objectives is shared below.
