From September 2014, all pupils from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for free school meals. All our school meals are cooked on the premises by our own wonderful cooks. To make sure all our meals are of the highest quality, we have a few key rules that we keep to:
- Every child always has a choice of food
- Every child can choose at least two portions of fruit or vegetables to go with their meal
- Children have fish as part of their diet
- Homemade wholemeal bread is always available to the children throughout their meals
- Limitless amounts of fresh, chilled drinking water
- and many more besides!
All our meals are cooked in our own kitchens at school. You can tell how popular they are by the large number of children who take up school meals.
Not only are they nutritionally satisfying but enjoyed by the children as well. Vegetarian options are always available as is fresh fruit, vegetables, water and wholemeal bread.
We have a food hygiene rating of 5* - the highest that can be achieved!
Some of the children's favourites include:
Chicken dinner, traditional curry, roast potatoes, fresh salads, vegetable samosas, potato wedges, chocolate muffins, pasta, garlic bread etc etc!
The cooks are very proud of what they create for the children - children who expect a tasty meal prepared with care and attention.
Please see below for an example menu.
We have just received the highest standard award for our kitchen staff. Well done to the cooks!
