message from the headteacherIn this, the final half term of 2018, we are looking forward to the rich variety of activities that we associate with this busy time of year. From Christmas Shows to Parents' Evenings, from Carols on the Crescent to Reading Workshops, there is a rich mixture of opportunities to become involved even more deeply with your school. Keep a close eye on 'Upcoming Events' to make sure you stay in the know!

I can't believe we're in our final half-term. This year has flown by... this must mean we are having lots of fun!

We have started a new book called 'Our Teachers are Superheroes', it's about the secret life of teachers.

What do we get up to at the end of school time? Ask your children what they predict is going to happen at the end of the story. Apparently, a lot of Y3KM think we're villains!

It's not long till the show: When I grow up... and in Y3 KM we want to see the world! Hopefully you can make it, on the 17th, 18th or 19th of July. We have been working really hard on our lines and dances.

Keep practising those times tables Y3! (In French too if you like!) They are so important! The more you practise the quicker you will get.

Learning Goals
Being in Year 3 is an exciting place to be as a whole new part of the school opens up to the children. It is here that they learn to become even more responsible and organised as they become Juniors.

Everyone in Year 3 continues to have individual targets for Literacy and Numeracy as well as a General target which they work hard on, both at home and school. These are reviewed regularly and help the children to keep a focus on their learning, achieve and reach their potential.
Homework
In Year 3, homework plays an important part in the children's learning and is set to address the needs of each child, to review and consolidate their learning and to develop independent learning skills.
Literacy is given on a Monday and expected back by Thursday each week.
Numeracy is given on a Thursday and is expected in on the following Monday. The spelling test is given each Friday and children should aim for full marks with regular practice.

Our children are also actively encouraged to read every night at home and to practise their spellings and target times tables on a regular basis throughout the week.
